Two tips to follow if you've purchased sneeze shields for your food factory

Here are two tips to follow if you've purchased sneeze shields for your food factory.

Keep a supply of cloths and food-safe cleaning sprays near the shields

You should keep a supply of cloths and food-safe cleaning sprays near the shields. The reason for this is that whenever an employee sneezes or coughs on one of these shields, the shield will be coated in the mucus and salvia that the person expelled from their nose and mouth.

The presence of these substances on the shield could make it difficult to see past this area of the shield. This could cause issues if the shield is on an assembly line, where your factory workers need to be able to clearly see the ingredients in front of them in order to do their assembly tasks correctly. If these fluids are not removed from the shields, they could also create an unhygienic environment for those working near them.

Keeping cloths and cleaning sprays near the shields will make it easy for those who have sneezed or coughed on them to quickly remove the expelled substances from the shield, even if they're very busy when this happens. The spray you use should be food-safe, as whilst the spray won't penetrate the shield (and so won't land on food that lies on the other side of it), the factory workers who use it might get some of the spray on their hands and could transfer it to any ingredients that they then touch.

Instruct your employees to tell you if the shields get loose or cracked

Sneeze shields that are made for industrial environments are very robust, but it is still possible for them to be damaged in certain situations. It's important to instruct your employees to tell you if any of the shields you erect become unstable or cracked. The reason for this is that if there a shield is cracked, or if it is unstable and becomes misaligned, a gap may form and the mucus a factory worker expels when they sneeze could get past the shield and onto the food.  This could happen even if the crack or the gap is very thin.

By encouraging your factory workers to inform you the second they notice any issue like this with the shield, you can either replace or readjust the shield immediately, before any of the food on the assembly line it is supposed to be protecting gets sneezed on.

Creating a Safe Environment: Industrial and Manufacturing Facilities

If you work in or run an industrial or manufacturing facility, safety is key. In this blog, we are going to talk a lot about safety. However, we are also going to veer into other aspects of these industries as well. There will be posts directed toward consumers, business owners, workers and many others. Before you start reading, let me introduce myself. My name is Steve. I used to volunteer at an animal refuge where I put together a lot of buildings and frequently visited sheet metal processing facilities, fence manufacturing companies and similar businesses. I was incredibly interested in what they did so I decided to create this blog. Thank you for reading.
